Despite the onset of winter, 20 interested people found their way to Café Miteinander in Sankt Wendel on January 30th. Here they wanted to inform themselves about the EU-funded project “Sprachtreff – für Integration auf dem Land”. They had followed the invitation issued by the Protestant parish, Diakonie Saar, the city, Caritas and the job center.
The attendees listened attentively to the statement given by the Diakonie project team member Petra Philipczyk. The opportunity to get in contact with german locals during the Sprachtreff, to practice german, to find out about jobs and to receive support from volunteers or network partners especially addressed the 12 interested people present from Syria and Eritrea.
During this evening, in addition to exchanging information about the project and establishing initial contacts, arrangements for further co-operations were made as well. Four groups found themselves and agreed to work together in the future during the different opening hours of the Sprachtreff.
