22 interested people had come to the Kultur-Kirche in Wülfrath for the information evening of the EU project “Sprachtreff – für Integration auf dem Land” in order to plan the launch of the new Sprachtreff in Wülfrath.

It starts on the 11th of March.

The Sprachtreff will be offered three times a week from March 11th onward in the rooms of the Kulturkirche and will supplement the existing language courses. The Protestant parish Wülfrath and the Bergische Diakonie Aprath organise the Sprachtreff, in which refugees can practice german together with verbal- and reading- partners in addition to the honorary language courses on site. The motivations that had moved the attendees to come to this information evening and to contribute to the project include not only to provide time and make a meaningful contribution to the integration of refugees, but also to bring professional experience and knowledge to the project. A young refugee confirmed that such a meeting place, where refugees and locals meet, learn from each other and talk to each other, is the right thing to do in Wülfrath right now.

There is an own offer for women.

The people of Wülfrath are already very active in regards to refugee work and are excited about the new offer. Currently they are already planning different variations of the Sprachtreff. In addition to an open Sprachtreff on Monday evening, there will be an intercultural café on Wednesday afternoon. Furthermore on Friday mornings, a Sprachtreff group will be set up for women only, in order to encourage them in a more specific way, with organised childcare available if necessary.
